UE’s 2007-08 Yearend Commencement Ceremonies, Baccalaureate Rites set

The University of the East (UE) is pleased to announce the holding of its Baccaluareate rites and yearend 2007-08 commencement ceremonies, with distinguished UE alumni as guest speakers.

The commencement ceremonies, dates and venues are as follows: Graduate School, Colleges of Law and Dentistry - UE Theater, Manila Campus, Wednesday, April 16,3 p.m.; UE Manila – Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Studies and Systems, Education, and Engineering - Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall, Thursday, April 17, 9 a.m.; UE Caloocan – Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering and Fine Arts - PICC Plenary Hall, on Thursday, April 17, 2 p.m.

The commencement guest speakers are: accomplished lawyer and currently, Commissioner, Commission on Human Rights Wilhelm D. Soriano, UE LlB 1978, on April 16, 3 p.m.; noted business executive, globally sought-after speaker and lecturer, author of three internationally-published accounting books, presently, International Financial Reporting Standards Council Chairman Carlos R. Alindada, UE BBA 1954, on April 17, 9 a.m.; and advertising’s fiber optic innovator, international award-winning photographer, and the President & General Manager of Mouver Ads Inc., Edgar B. Arcilla, BFA 1972, on April 17, 2 p.m.

As of press time, more than 800 candidates for graduation from UE Manila campus and over 400 from UE Caloocan campus are expected to participate in the 60th UE Manila Commencement Exercises and the 30th UE Caloocan Commencement Exercises, respectively.

Leading these yearend graduation candidates is Richardson E. Navor, UE Caloocan BS Accountancy, magna cum laude, and a consistent UE-Tan Yan Kee Foundation Inc. scholar. He will be the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Award, the Leadership Award for Men and the College Distinguished Graduate Award. Andrea Rica T. Roxas, UE Manila BSBA Marketing Management, will receive the Leadership Award for Women.

Rounding up the College Distinguished Graduate Awardees are: UE Manila – Alvin T. Go, cum laude (Arts and Sciences); Joseph Ian C. Asuncion, magna cum laude (Business Administration); Lhiza M. dela Torre, summa cum laude (Computer Studies and Systems); Michelle Marie T. Arcilla, cum laude (Education); and Charlston E. Uy, cum laude (Dentistry); UE Caloocan – Venus B. Bucud, cum laude (Arts and Sciences); Nioro G. Furiscal, cum laude (Engineering); and James Patrick P. Trinidad, magna cum laude (Fine Arts).

Prior to these commencement ceremonies, Baccalaureate Rites will be conducted as follows: UE Manila candidates – UE Conference Hall, Tuesday, April 15, 4 p.m.; UE Caloocan candidates - Open Field, Wednesday, April 16, 4 p.m. The commencement program booklets and tickets will be distributed to the candidates at their respective colleges, immediately after the Baccalaureate Mass.
